The New South Wales Blues have taken an early lead in the 2021 State of Origin series, defeating the Queensland Maroons 50-6 in Game 1 at Suncorp Stadium. The Blues dominated the match from the outset, scoring three tries in the first half to take a 18-0 lead into the break.
The Maroons hit back with a try early in the second half, but the Blues quickly regained control of the match and ran in a further five tries to seal the victory.
Blues halfback Nathan Cleary was named man of the match after scoring a try and setting up three others. Latrell Mitchell and Josh Addo-Carr also scored two tries each for the Blues.
